Inspired by her personal experiences with gender stereotyping, 19 year-old Ina Bhoopalam founded Dream Equal with the goal of combatting the gender-based issues she faced growing up. While researching ways to take action against gender inequality, Ina discovered many unaddressed issues within the current gender equality movement and decided to found Dream Equal to confront them. Originally a local Nebraskan non-profit, Dream Equal is now global serving youth in all areas of the world.
Gender stereotyping, biases, and discrimination cost dreams and lives every day. In the US alone, gender stereotyping is responsible for over 100 deaths every day.
Dream Equal is working towards a world in which all people are empowered to realize their full potential, regardless of gender.
We strive to empower children to become capable young leaders who are confident in their goals and dreams.
We work to advocate for a more gender-sensitive education system and world.
We seek to educate our communities about the negative effects of gender stereotypes and how to effectively combat them.
Dream Equal is REVOLUTIONARY,
tackling gender inequality in ways no one has ever done before.
WHY WE ARE UNIQUE
We focus our efforts on young students and children, directly combating gender stereotypes at the age in which they develop. We strive to eliminate gender inequality, instead of addressing its effects.
Gender inequality affects everyone: men, women, and non-binary people. And, to reach global gender equality, we need to focus on everyone. That's why at Dream Equal we fight for all genders, not just cis-girls.
Gender inequality affects people of all abilities and socioeconomic levels. As we learn and grow together, we are dedicated to providing all of our educational programs for free, as well as making our programs accessible to people with disabilities.
